The Many Faces of Caleb

Welcome Katie, Shon & Melodie

Kevin's cousin, Katie, her husband, Shon and their friend, Melodie, arrived via Thailand last night. We spent the night catching up over some wine. Three bottles later Kevin remembered that he still had to work in the morning. Today, Caleb and I showed Katie, Shon and Melodie around Ho Chi Minh City. After dinner downtown, we are now ready for some more wine and a little guitar hero.

Game Day

Do you think the Oilers know that they have fans cheering them on in Vietnam? Too bad it does not seem to be helping.

Mom and Caleb

It is a very hot Saturday here so we have been hanging around the house relaxing. I was feeling a bit jealous of all the photos of Kevin and Caleb so Kevin snapped one of Caleb and I today.

Hope everyone is doing well out there. We are getting very excited about some upcoming events: meeting Baby Katarina via Skype (congrats Jeff & Andrea), the arrival of Baby Jewett which should be anytime now (keep us posted, Kris & Krista) and our visitors arriving this coming week, Kevin's cousin, Katie and her husband, Shon, as well as Kristi, Melanie and Jeremy the following week.

More Babies

Caleb and I had a busy day yesterday. We went to the International Ladies of Vietnam coffee morning where Caleb got to see his friend, Elliot (4 months) and new friend, Siegfried (6 months). After lunch with some friends and running a few errands, we stopped by the house and then headed to our first baby group which was crawling (literally) with lots of new moms and babies. Caleb was the youngest but definitely not the smallest!

I have definitely been enjoying the time that Caleb and I have been having together and it has been great to finally meet some more new moms in Ho Chi Minh City. Today, after my trial week had ended, I joined a beautiful new fitness club only a few blocks away from our home, Nutrifort. It is a beautiful facility and I have already met a few people through the gym classes as well.  So with feeding and playing with Caleb, attending baby groups, going to the gym, chatting to friends and family on Skype (great chatting to you today, Carly!), updating the blog and making dinner (I have been trying a new meal each night... almost - Friday is going out night!) the day goes by so quickly.

Kevin and I were sure that Caleb grew overnight which might explain Caleb's increased appetite the day before. I found this cute little outfit in Caleb's closet from Cousin Matthew's hand-me-downs and it barely fit!

All smiles at the ladies coffee morning.

Our first baby group experience (half of the moms and babies had already left by the time I took this photo). Caleb is at the bottom centre of the photograph.

Caleb was so tired when he got home from his big day. He slept from 6:00pm until 10:30pm and after an evening feed, was back in bed until 4:00am.
He ate again but then slept until 6:30am.

Daddy's Boy

I have lots of great photos of Caleb and Kevin taken over the last few days. Caleb loves hanging out with his Dad - until he is hungry that is!

Dad and Caleb - check out that smile!

Showered with Love

The Talisman ladies threw Caleb and I a beautiful baby shower today. We had a terrific time playing games and enjoying lunch. Caleb was so good as he was passed around the room. We came home with many lovely gifts including the beautiful alphabet quilt from the hosts, Sherry and Peggy.

Hai Thang

Caleb is two months old and is becoming much more interactive. He is just starting to discover his hands and spends a good part of his day just staring at them. Today we went out for lunch with a friend and her two month old son and it was so wonderful to see a similarly sized baby after having most Vietnamese ask me if my son is six months old (the average baby is a little smaller here)!

Bad Hair Day

Caleb is growing and continues to make us smile each day. For the first time, I left the house this morning without Caleb and in the care of someone other than Kevin. It was only for an hour to go to the gym but it was still pretty traumatic. I held back tears on my walk to the gym. It took all the concentration I had to focus on yoga breathing and not think about how he was doing. It turned out he was great and Sau, our housekeeper, was thrilled to get to look after him.

Hockey Morning in Vietnam

This morning we enjoyed 'Hockey Morning in Vietnam' at Kevin's manager's house where we watched the Toronto Maples Leafs vs the Montreal Canadians live over the internet. The puck dropped at 7 am so instead of beer and nachos, it was coffee, orange juice and eggs!

Rock Star Baby

After having breakfast at 7 am on a Saturday morning much to Kevin's disappointment (What happened to sleep-in Saturdays??), we hooked up the WII for a bit of guitar hero. Caleb was appropriately dressed in his guitar onesie (Thanks to Natalie, Curtis and Eve). Kevin was thrilled when the only song Caleb seemed to get upset about was 'Talk Dirty To Me' by Poison (Kevin's least favourite song).

After our little jam session, Caleb completely passed out!

Future Geologist

Caleb visited Dad at work yesterday. Hopefully, someday Caleb will have a great job that he does not have to do in a cubicle!

This stuff is easy!

It is kind of scary how interested Caleb actually looks in this picture.

War Wound

Caleb's hands are his greatest enemy right now. Even though his nails have been trimmed, he woke up with a scratch by his nose. At first I thought it was a Vietnamese bug or spider bite and briefly panicked but we are pretty sure it is just a scratch now! He also is into rubbing his eyes when he is waking up or getting tired. It is pretty cute even if it means his eyes turn all red!

Bless You

I have been trying to capture Caleb's smiles and baby talking on video but as soon as I pull out the camera, he appears  mesmerized by it.  Here's what happened yesterday when I tried to get him to talk to me while taking a video:

Tired

Our flight from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh city was at 7 am so it was a rather long day! Once we got back to the house, it did not take long before Caleb and I were both in need of a nap.

Kevin quietly took this photo of us.
