Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend around the city for us. Saturday morning, we attended Steve and Ha's wedding ceremony and reception. Kevin was gift boat carrier so we were able to go to the small ceremony that usually only family is invited to in the morning. It was another cultural experience. We still cannot figure out exactly when the marriage happened and how it is all becomes official since the person who did all the talking was the videographer?!? Caleb is getting over a cold so he spent the day at home. The wedding reception was full of our favourite Vietnamese wedding moments: hired dancers, champagne fountain, loud music, exuberant MC, and lots of beer. One of my favourite things about Vietnamese weddings is that the bride and groom have three different outfits for the day. Our personal faves were Steve's white suit and white shoes! After the reception, I stopped off at a friend's house. I was planning on walking the three blocks home but Maria kindly doubled me on her bike. What a sight we were at midnight on the street.

Sunday morning came much too soon. We were up early and rushing about to get out to District 7 where Kevin was doing the 5 km Phu My Bridge Phun Run. Caleb and I were along for a walk. We met up with John (who was also running) and Bel and Louis so we could walk with them. Kevin finished in well under a half hour - nice run! We rushed off from District 7 to District 3 for our Sunday Tadpole Swim Lesson. Caleb, who had his morning snack in the car and had not slept at all on the bridge walk, was all smiles when he got in the pool. The lesson was great and afterwards, Caleb made it about a block before he was fast asleep in the car. All of us were in need of an afternoon nap before Kevin Haase and Adelina joined us for a bbq dinner and some trip planning. We are trying to organize a camper trip through New Zealand's South Island at the end of February so if anyone has any must-see suggestions, let us know!

Ha and Steve after the wedding ceremony (look at those shoes!).

And at the wedding reception. Still wearing the shoes...

Caleb and I with Bel and Louis in a sea of Phun Run participants. The boys were drawing quite a bit of attention.
