Calgary Zoo

We spent the long weekend in Calgary visiting with friends. It was great to see everyone and catch up - it has been a long time since we made the trip (partly because I dread car trips with Anushka, since she isn't always happy to be in her car seat). On Sunday we went to the Calgary Zoo with Quinn and Melanie. I haven't been in many, many years. It was bigger than I remembered and quite a nice zoo. We didn't get to see all of it, so I would like to go back again soon. We did see the new moving dinosaurs, the giraffes and the elephants. The baby giraffe was pretty cute. Thanks for having us stay with you Melanie, Lair, and Quinn.

Morning yogurt

Most mornings I am either told, "up", "bum", "boobie", and most recently, "yogurt". Anna decided after waking up that she needed immediately to have a yogurt tube - while holding Igglepiggle and Upsiedaisy. This was the result after her nap the other day:

Uncle Chris' birthday

We had fun celebrating Chris' birthday on Feb. 7. Mom brought a yummy rib dinner and we finished with black forest cake - which Anushka played with more than anything. Happy Birthday Chris!

Colouring at the new table

Mom got Anushka a little drawing table that now resides in the kitchen. She had fun helping us put it together and can now sit and draw while I am in the kitchen. She loves that paper and crayons are stored under the table, so she can pull them out whenever she wants.

The girls

We had a potluck dinner at the Beaudoin's on Saturday night. The four boys didn't want to have much to do with the little girls, but Anna had a great time playing with Emmanuelle and was loving kissing Marie.

Frog book

Anna's favorite book right now is the frog pop-up book that she got from Grandma Shirley for Christmas. I don't know why, but in this instance, she needed to sit on her potty in the hallway to read it...

Baking helper

Anushka thought it was quite fun to help mom make cookies last weekend. She likes to measure and pour ingredients. She also likes to sample the ingredients:

Brunch at New York Bagel Cafe

We had brunch last Saturday with Melanie, Jeremy, Kristi and Armande. It was delicious as always. We'll have to do it again soon! Anna has been quite taken with her Uncle "Beremy" lately...

Making pizza with Auntie Gabby

Anushka got to be the helper when we made pizza at our house (Gabby was patient enough to deal with the mess). She is now an expert sauce spreader and topping placer. She also worked quality control with the cheese. I guess it's in her genes, since dad worked at Pizza Hut in high school.

Goofs

We had a fun afternoon hanging out last weekend at Doug and Lois'. Anushka and Isabelle had a good time playing and chasing each other around. There are more silly pictures in the album.

Beaners

I took Anushka for a haircut at Beaners last weekend. She loved it instantly, since there was a ball room to play in. She got to sit on a horse for the haircut and it was done in about 5 minutes. Here are the before and after pictures:



She let the hairdresser put her hair in a ponytail and kept it there for a while, but she has not let me do her hair yet. She likes the idea of a "pony" and asks for one all the time, but she never lets me actually touch her hair. The highlight of the haircut was the sparkles she got when she was done.

Louisiana Purchase

Last Friday, Jeff, Rita, Dan and I went out for a nice dinner at Louisiana Purchase. I don't think I have eaten so much in a long time, everything was fabulous. I can't ever turn down babyback ribs or chocolate pecan pie. Thanks for babysitting, mom!
