Anushka's First Birthday

We had friends over to celebrate yesterday. Lots of kids, lots of fun and lots of cake. There are more pictures in the album, which is now full. Another 500 pictures. Phewph, you would have thought that I would have slowed down. I will post more soon, hopefully. It has been a busy house lately. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us. We all had a great time.

My first Mother's Day

Did I get to sleep in? A bit. I've given up on getting to sleep in, anyways. We met Jeff's family for brunch at the Millcreek Cafe. It was yummy (I had the salmon eggs benedict, a treat, for sure). Two mom's celebrations complete. Anushka and I went over to my mom's and went for a walk to the mall. One more mom's celebration complete. Jeff finished putting the new bed together and then he made me a yummy supper of spring pesto ravioli, salmon and salad. Then we walked to Dairy Queen for a treat. Final mom's celebrations complete. Or so I thought. Jeff brought me these yummy cupcakes this morning as my Mother's Day present:

Thanks, sweetie! They are awesomely delicious and decadent. You know the way to my heart!

Time for summer

Anna's new hat. She does not like it. She tries to pull it off frequently. Too bad. Gotta wear a hat.

More bouncy fun

We had dinner at Marsha's (thanks!) and she pulled out this horsey. Can you guess who wanted more and more and more? It was fun, but it definitely isn't the safest kid's toy.

Your baby is falling out

I am attempting a new tie for the sling, with Anna on my back. On my second attempt, I was going through our neighbourhood and a guy driving by rolled down his window and said, "your baby is falling out". Anna then shifted to be more upright, and he said, "oh, she's okay now". Too funny. It doesn't look totally secure, but she really is in there tight. I have loved this sling, but I think it is time for something with a bit more structure, so I have ordered an Ergo Sport. I will be able to carry her on my back with that one, as well. I am looking forward to more walks, but now in nicer weather!

Babysitting

While Jeff was away for a conference Anna got to hang out with her grandparents. She had a fun time with everyone, which is a relief for me. I had to go rescue Auntie Kristi, since she did pull out the cranky for her, but overall she has done really well being away from mom so much while I get school done. Speaking of school....I should get back to it :)

Thanks to everyone who has been looking after Anushka, we really appreciate it!

Entering the world of kings

Last week we got a kingsize mattress, finally. I have been dreaming of one since Anna could move around. It was in the livingroom for a couple of days due to technical difficulties with the frame, so when we got it into the bedroom, it didn't take Anna long to figure out that this bed is higher than the last one and that she could climb on the ledge behind it:

Happy 35th Birthday, Daddy!

We began the celebrations for Jeff's birthday today with a yoga class. We then walked and met Jeff's dad for lunch at Two Rooms on Whyte (thanks, it was yummy). We headed home and had a relaxing afternoon, with a bit of cleaning (boring, I know, but it has to get done some time). For dinner with some of Jeff's family we went to Famoso, a pizza place that claims to have the traditional pizza of Naples (I will let you know how they fare once I have had pizza in Italy). I thought it was good, but it was quite noisy and there was a reservation issue that started the evening off on the wrong foot. We all headed back to our place for the aforementioned cupcakes (I will hopefully take some pictures of some of them that remain and post them (I am very proud of my first foray into using piping equipment). Tomorrow will be more celebrating with hopefully a bit of schoolwork squeezed in.

Happy Birthday, Jeff, you are an awesome husband and dad! Hopefully this year will be filled with less grey hair :)
