More birthday madness

What did Travis want to do for his 10th birthday? Play the Wii, of course!
(The cast is from injuring himself at lasertag on the weekend)

And what did he want for dinner? Pizza, obviously. Happy birthday!

50km in 2 days...

I think my knees are revolting; I have been a riding fool. I biked to the west end yesterday and today. But the weather has been great, so I am definitely not complaining. Life is good right now. I went for an hour run on the weekend and my shin pain is gone. I think I am going to go into withdrawal in the bush - no running or biking, just lots of mosquitoes...

The Mexican Death Trap

Here are a few pictures from my fieldwork in Mexico:

The awesome taco stand in Erendira (the closest town, about a 15 minute drive).

Eric the Third

WARNING: Lots of cute kid pictures in this post.

Happy 3rd birthday, little guy!

Space Science Centre

I had a fun day being a chaperon for my nephews class. Below are some pictures from the day.

This one's for you, Marcie.

Learning about wind in a cooler? Interesting.

What's more fun than getting a picture taken of your face in a different body?

This was taken before they spent 20 minutes hucking the pink blocks at each other. I safely chaperoned the five kids with no injuries or crying. Not bad.

How do cats know?

Vlad and Nikita honed in on Eric's sweater - how do they know a foreign sweater? And why do they need to sleep on it?

Fieldwork

Peerless Lake. Where is that? And why would someone go there? It is about a 5 hour drive north of Edmonton, and I was there as a shovel bum.

The very classy Lakeside Motor Inn, Slave Lake.

This is what a laundry room that is used by tree planters
and men working in Northern Alberta looks like.

And this is me - after trudging through the swampy right of way that will soon be a road (we surveyed the whole cleared area behind me).

Calgary

The trip to Calgary was lots of fun. We helped set up a bit at the party, hung out in the sun and listened to awesome chill music (thanks Area 709 guys for throwing a fun party - the day and night was great). Dancing, chilling, visiting and fun ensued. The not so fun part was getting our car towed on Sunday.

Dave - the intrepid photographer.

Kailey with her Irish dancing bling and rockstar sunglasses.

Karen and Kailey rocking the hoops.

Jeff doing what he does best.

Spring water!

Welcome our new water cooler. We have been without for months now (ever since the last one emptied itself into our basement). We decided to go low tech (no freon, no electricity, minimal materials). I like it.
